Abstract
:
This study aims at building an educational module by utilizing the aesthetics of Mandala art in the design of clothing accessories, and measuring its effectiveness regarding the impact of Mandala art on the cognitive and skills in the design of clothing accessories using the applications of modern smart devices for the female students of the Department of Fashion and Textile, Faculty of Human Sciences and Design, King Abdul- Aziz University in Jeddah, Master's program (Major of Fashion Design). It also aimed at introducing innovative design proposals for clothing accessories inspired by the art of Mandala. The study adopted the experimental methodology of "pre-post design" using the one group sampling. The research instruments consisted of cognitive and skill tests (pre / post) to measure the knowledge and skills included in the proposed educational module and the test of the skill performance assessment of the female students (pre / post). The results of the study showed a statistically significant difference between the average scores of the female students in the pre and post applications on the cognitive achievement test and skill test related to the proposed educational module, in favor of the post application. This confirms that the educational module presented in this study proved its success and effectiveness in achieving its goal thereof, and the foundations they contain and related to knowledge and skills were learnt, too. The study recommended the need to update the knowledge and skills that are included in the curricula of fashion design using the up-to-date methods and techniques that contribute to the development of design methods and increasing the efficiency of the product and its output, as well as paying attention to the integration of arts which are characterized by their high moral and aesthetic values (such as Mandala art, Zintangel art and Dodel art) in the field of fashion design and its accessories. Keywords: Effectiveness, Educational module, Mandala art, Clothing accessories.
