Abstract
:
Technology has helped in changing and facilitating the way consultation services provide. It also has proven strong effective in e-education and others. Considering the current pandemic, the use of the Internet and communication technologies expanded in all fields, especially the consultation fields such as professional, academic, health, and psychological consulting. This research studies the organization’s improvement by investigating the Advisory and Research Services Units consultation process in the Deanship of Graduate Studies in the female campus at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. This research aims to: (1) developing and simulating a model to improve the consulting process, (2) improving the key performance indicators. This research focuses on increasing the served student, reducing the time waiting to get the service, and optimizing resource utilization. The research also introduces a model for the consultation process. Data collected and conducted on a case study on the Advisory and Research Services unit. Then, simulation is performed to see the effect of changing inputs on the key performance indicators. The main research finding is the success and efficiency of the proposed model by using the simulation. Based on the research results, the key performance indicators have improved, which led to improved performance. The number of served students was increased by 38%, the time waiting reduced by 27% and resource utilization optimized by 203%. The proposed model also can eliminate manual processes.
