Abstract
:
This study aims to identify the most important natural and human factors affecting the outbreak of chickenpox in the Jeddah Governorate, and to to identify the most important factors that affect the spread of chickenpox in the neighborhoods of Jeddah . The study relied on a questionnaire answered by a sample of the study population (1433 AH). To achieve these goals, both descriptive and quantitative approaches as well as maps have been used .The results showed that the most important natural factor affecting the outbreak of varicella is heat. The impact of human factors shows the highest proportion of males and females victims are Saudis in the age range (7-15 years), and in people with low educational level and average monthly income. This is reflected in the quality of their housing (apartments), which consist of (4-6) rooms, giving more contact with a chickenpox patient. The lack of windows in the rooms causes nonrenewal of the air leading to the rapid spread of varicella virus. It also appears that public spaces help speed up the transmission of the virus. Most of the victims have chosen to see a doctor rather than using folk medicine. Infection rate has risen in Prince Abdul Majeed sector, and Breiman sector and Al-Balad sector, and has decreased in Al-Salamah sector. Based on the findings of this study, the researcher recommends that adequate attention be given to monitoring data on infectious diseases by health inspectors in medical centres, as well as the need for health education for citizens regarding the dangers of this disease.
