Abstract
:
Energy drinks is the most consumed in Saudi Arabia by different age groups in recent times, especially the energy drink Red bull. It is one of the substances that cause many damages such as occurrence Neurotoxicity, damage of nerve cells and impact on memory and learning difficulties. The aim of the present study was to determine the chronic effect of the energy drink Red Bull and subsequent withdrawal for a week on some neurotransmitters (norepinephrine (NE), dopamine (DA) and Gamma-Aminobutyrice Acids (GABA) in different regions of the brain (cerebellum - striatum - cerebral cortex - hypothalamus - brain stem - hippocampus). also the current study aims to study the chronic effect on olive oil and preventive role Against neurotoxicity caused from energy drink in young male albino rats. The study showed that the daily ingestion of energy drink Red Bull at a dose (3.1 ml / day) for three weeks and gradual withdrawal of body for a week, cause a significant decrease in the total content of neural connectors in all brain regions under study at different times of the study, and this is probably due to the effect of caffeine in energy drink which leads to the closure of adenosine receptors, which works to open calcium channels and increase calcium entry into the nerve cell and lack of the total content of the studied nerve connectors. The study also showed that the daily ingestion of olive oil at a dose (3 ml / day) for three weeks led to a significant increase in the total content of neural connectors studied, and this is may be due to the effect of oleic acid and Linoleic acid which works to increase the formation and release of neurotransmitters studied and re-uptake. The results also showed a marked improvement in the total content of neural connectors in animals that treated with preventive dose of olive oil before treated with Energy drink and this is probably due to the antioxidants that found in olive oil, which has worked on the inhibition of oxidation lipids and reduce of be Free Radical and increase the activity of glutathione in an attempt to repair the damage Brought by the energy drink resulting in a variation of the total content of neurotransmitters studied at different times. From the previous results we can say that olive oil have a protective effect against neurotoxicity caused by energy drink.
