Dhebaa Seaport is considered as one of the seaports which contributed in the Kingdom's economic as it was an active trade seaport connecting with external world.
Governing Hejaz region by King Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud in 1343 H/ 1924G has an important impact on the development of, which consequently led to its effective role in the developing the surrounding areas and increase its trade and commercial activities. Also, it has reflected of the export and import activities to and from Dhebaa Seaport, which has strengthened the trade relation with the Hejazi Seaports on the eastern coast of the Red Sea and the Egyptian and Sudanese Seaports on the Western coast of the Red Sea.
Therefore Dhebaa Seaport was the appropriate location to import the goods and distribute it in the villages, rural areas of Dhebaa, Tabuk Region and Northern Region which depend mainly on Dhebaa Seaport to get its food, consuming goods and commodities.
Dhebaa Seaport has an administration and financial system manging collect the fees of the anchoring ships and taxes on the different goods and send it to Dhebaa Finance Department which submit it to the Ministry of Finance. As a result of the successful commercial activities of Dhebaa Seaport, the living conditions of Dhebaa people has been improved and the government has afforded a lot of job opportunities to the society in addition to their main professions in fisheries and trade.
In addition to the sea trade of Dhebaa Seaport, it has a trans-desert commercial activities which connect it to Jordan, Palestine and Sham Countries.
The miscellaneous and effective commercial relations of Dhebaa Seaport has its influence on some social traditions, habits, common sayings and on the architectural models.
The business men of Dhebaa had a great role in developing the society of Dhebaa, as they provide the people with their requirements of the consumable goods by importing from Jeddah Seaport, Egypt or Sham Countries, and through their strong personal relation with the community of Dhebaa and its surrounding areas.
Therefore the social and economic circumstances has a deep impact which led Dhebaa Seaport to play an important role in the early construction of the Kingdom's economy. |
