Abstract
:
Evolution in electronic journals collections in libraries Saudi Academy evolved Saudi academic libraries (SALs) towards the use of electronic resources since 1992. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the extent to which you the SALs adopt the changes in electronic journals (bibliographic databases or full text) and their impact on the printed periodicals groups during the years 1995-2000. The study also explores the impact of electronic journals on management process groups, periodicals and on the criteria that are important in the decision-making process management for electronic journals. The aim of this study is to incorporate a specific number of administrative methods or factors important criteria for management decision-making electronic periodicals groups. Survey method was used to collect data through a questionnaire sent to libraries and information professionals in six of the SALs who have entered the electronic system since 1995. Of the most important results are found in the study group electronic journals has increased steadily in 1996 by 98%, which coincided with a steady increase in its budget, which amounted to 125%. The volume of printed periodicals groups has not increased significantly and remained stable between 1997 and 2000, and the supply in the field of electronic journals under restricted field of pure and applied sciences, technology and social sciences. While it was found that most of the electronic journals that were to subscribe to the bibliographic format, which clearly indicates that the transition to electronic media in SALs was somewhat surprising in 1997 the possibility it was caused by the differences in the budget and the management of groups periodicals
