Abstract
:
This study is concerned the submission of the Hejaz region to Ottoman Empire after the Mamluk states fall by Sultan Selim (I) in(923 AH / AD 1517). So The Ottoman took control over Egypt , the Hejaz , Al-Sham and parts of Yemen, which means that the Ottoman Empire had control over the Muslim Holy Places In the Hejaz The Grand Mosque in Makkah and The Prophet's Mosque In Medina as well as Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine. The Hejaz gave religious leadership to the Ottomans in the Islamic world; in return the Ottoman goverment exempt the region from its organizations that were implemented in other regions , such as receiving great funds each year called the (THE Ottoman Surre) which was send annually accompany at the Hajj caravans from Damascus and Egypt. This study allocated for (Ottoman Surre ) initiated with it’s definition, demonstrate its importance, the responsible persons for its organization, the Celebration Decrees(faraman), In addition to the benefits of the people of al-Haramen according to Surre ’s sources. The originality of this study is to review and analysis ( Surre Defter ) from year 1171 AH / 1758 AD. This Surre Defter is one of the Defters which began to be saved since year (1009 AH / 1600 AD) in the archives of the Prime Minister, and in the Palace of Topkapi in Istanbul in sequence until year (1327 AH / 1909AD).
