Abstract : The hazard effects of two antibiotics (ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin) were tested on albino rats (Rattus rattus). Albino rats were injected intraperitoneally with single different dose levels of the two concerned antibiotics. On the bais of 1/10 LD 50 repeated daily doses were also given to rats for 10 given for 10 days. The concentrations of the following amino acids: glutamic acid, aspartic acid, aspartagine, GABA,glycine, alanine, serine, histidine and taurine and the alterations in the activities of enzymes: alanine aminotransferase (AST) aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in the whole brain of rats, were considered the criteria of this assessment.
