Abstract
:
This report describes a 40-year old man who had been diagnosed as having Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH) in 2007, was admitted to our hospital in November 2008 with a dark urine and sever bilateral flank pain after he received diclofenac and amoxicillin with clavulinic acid to treat his common-cold, after that his renal profile was deteriorated. A series of investigations were done including renal biobsy which showed acute tubular necrosis, interstitial fibrosis and hemosiderine deposits in the tubular epithelial cells confirmed by Berlin-blue staining. After transfusion of five units of washed red blood cells and sixteen sessions of hemodialysis, the renal function returned to the levels before admission.
