This would avoid duplicity in local, regional and national projects. A Growth Center Strategy for the Kingdom was initiated for the Third Development Plan (1400-1405 A.H). However, it was never implemented and it has been recurring as a pivotal aspect of regional planning. It was included as part of the strategy for the Fifth Development Plan (1410-1415 A.H.). This study aims at providing an overview of the main challenges for Growth Center Strategies. It starts by giving a summary of the importance of that strategy for regional planning, then it looks at the formal commitment to that strategy.
